FAQs

Do I need to have a truck licence to complete the course?

Yes, you must hold a current and valid Heavy Vehicle licence of a suitable class to operate a TMA. This refers to a Medium Rigid or above as VicRoads has a requirement from the 1 January 2018 that Truck Mounted Attenuators will have a minimum of 15 tonne GVM for acceptable impact performance.

How often do I need to refresh this course?

There is currently no expiration on the Truck Mounted Attenuator qualification, however you must be able to produce evidence of a current RIIOHS302 Implement Traffic Management Plan qualification and hold a valid Heavy Vehicle licence suitable for the Truck when in operation.

COVE offers Heavy Vehicle training and assessment so you can secure your licence. Browse our Heavy Vehicle courses here.
