FAQs

Do I need to have a truck licence to complete the course?

Yes, you must hold a current and valid Heavy Vehicle licence of a suitable class to operate a TMA. This refers to a Medium Rigid or above as VicRoads has a requirement from the 1 January 2018 that Truck Mounted Attenuators will have a minimum of 15 tonne GVM for acceptable impact performance.

How often do I need to refresh this course?

There is currently no expiration on the Truck Mounted Attenuator qualification, however you must be able to produce evidence of a current RIIOHS302 Implement Traffic Management Plan qualification and hold a valid Heavy Vehicle licence suitable for the Truck when in operation.

COVE offers Heavy Vehicle training and assessment so you can secure your licence. Browse our Heavy Vehicle courses here.

I have a Red Card/Interstate Whitecard. Can I use this for the Truck Mounted Attenuator course?

Yes, you can as long as you are able to provide the physical copy issued by the governing body of the state.

We also offer Red Card to Whitecard upgrades. If you have a Red Card and would like to upgrade to the current Construction Induction Whitecard issued by Worksafe Victoria, please contact us to find out how.
