Located Underground Services Course Structure

RIICCM202E – Identify, locate and protect underground services

Damage to our underground infrastructure can be expensive and potentially very dangerous. Being able to identify these assets is critical for anyone involved in excavating in a civil construction environment.

Underground services are those services such as gas, electricity, internet, and telephone that are required for modern life. It is a requirement that all attempts are made to locate these services before using worksite equipment that may cut or damage these services. Most states and territories have a Dial Before You Dig style provision that can be used to provide information and plans to assist in identifying where underground service and cables are located.
