White Card Interpreter Course Structure

CPCWHS1001 Course Structure – This course will prepare you to work safely in the construction industry by teaching you the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to doing construction work. As such, this course is full of essential information to ensure you can work safely and productively and will assess you on your capacity to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements.

COVE Training is approved by WorkSafe Victoria and accredited by Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver this training course.

By doing your White Card Interpreter course with COVE, you will work with excellent trainers and professional interpreters so you can enjoy a superior education experience in a familiar language. In addition, you will earn a nationally-recognised qualification and be able to safely work in construction using the knowledge in the White Card Interpreter course.

Obtaining Your License

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be provided with a statement of attainment that is valid for 60 days. WorkSafe Victoria will issue your Construction Induction card (White Card) within 60 days of completing this course.

COVE Training can offer interpreter services for the delivery of White Card in languages other than English. The course is facilitated by a Cove Qualified Trainer and Assessor, and then delivered in the selected language by an interpreter.

Minimum group size of ten required.

Cost is $250.00 per participant.

Course Requirements:

  • Students must fulfil the course’s eligibility requirements and provide valid identification documents to the WorkSafe Victoria standards, such as a current Australian drivers licence. Check WorkSafe VIC list of acceptable forms of I.D.
  • Must attend in person and should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the course.
  • As per WorkSafe Victoria requirements, the basic understanding, reading and writing of English is required.
  • There are no formal prerequisites.
  • Students must have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to do simple calculations, read, write and understand English, and provide verbal responses to questions in English to undertake training and assessment in any of the courses offered by the Centre of Vocational Education Pty Ltd. Please click here to read our re-schedule policy in reference to LLN concerns identified at the point of enrolment.
  • Applicants who are in Australia on a student Visa are permitted to undertake this course under the amendment to the ESOS Act.

  • Students must fulfil the course’s eligibility requirements and provide valid identification documents to the WorkSafe Victoria standards, such as a current Victorian drivers’ licence. Check this WorkSafe Victoria list for acceptable forms of I.D.
    • We are unable to accept digital driver licences. If you choose to supply your driver licence as an identification document, it must be a physical driver licence card
  • Must attend in person and should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the course
  • There are no formal prerequisites
  • Students must have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to simple calculations, read, write and understand English, and provide verbal responses to questions in English to undertake training and assessment in any of the courses offered by Center of Vocational Education Pty Ltd.

People Who Need A White Card

  • Owner Builders whose premises become a workplace.
  • People who carry out construction work, including site managers and supervisors, surveyors, labourers and trades persons.
  • All persons who access operational construction zones unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person.
  • All persons whose employment causes them to routinely enter operational construction zones.

FAQs

How is this course offered?

This course is offered in a classroom-based setting with a Cove Qualified Trainer and Assessor and then delivered in the selected language by a registered interpreter. The interpreter will provide support in the selected language under the guidance and supervision of the Trainer/Assessor.

What languages is this course offered in?

This course can be offered in any language if we are able to arrange for a registered interpreter to be present. The common languages we provide this course in are:

  • Arabic

  • Chinese

  • Dari

  • Hindi

  • Spanish

  • Vietnamese

Can I bring a family/friend to interpret the course for me?

No, we are required to use registered interpreters during the White Card Interpreter course and for the assessment.

Does the Whitecard expire?

No, the current Construction Induction card issued by Worksafe Victoria does not have an expiration date.

When will I get my Whitecard?

Withing 60 days of completing the course. On the successful completion of the course, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment from us and Worksafe Victoria will issue the physical card within 60 days.

Can I use this Whitecard interstate?

Yes, as this is a nationally recognised course.

Do I have to supply my own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?

If you have your own PPE please bring this along to your course. If not, we do have some available for you to use during your practical assessment.
