This course will teach you how to:
- Select the appropriate slinging method and lifting gear for safe work lifting procedures
- Inspect lifting equipment prior to use
- Direct crane operators using verbal, hand, and whistle signals
- Perform different slinging methods using a range of lifting equipment, including flexible steel wire rope, chains, and synthetic slings
- Safely adapt dogging techniques according to different weather and site conditions

The course is delivered over 5 days in a classroom and practical setting at our Dandenong site.

This course provides numerous pathways forward, including rigging, crane operator, electrical spotting, and plant operations.
Obtaining Your License
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Notice of Assessment (NoA) from Cove Training which is valid for 60 days. Students will then have to submit the NoA to WorkSafe Victoria who will issue the licence.
Pre-Requisites
- Applications will be required to undertake pre-course reading and an activity book to ensure an understanding of the leading content that will be reviewed in the class contact time. These materials will be supplied to the students upon enrolment and payment of the course
- Students must fulfil the course’s eligibility requirements and provide valid identification documents to the WorkSafe Victoria standards, such as a current Victorian drivers’ licence
- We are unable to accept digital driver licences. If you choose to supply your driver licence as an identification document, it must be a physical driver licence card
