Excavator and Skid Steer Course Structure
RIIMPO320F – This course will give you the skills and confidence to operate an excavator machine. Once you complete it you will be ready to contribute to a civil construction worksite upon completion and apply your excavator operation skills in a real-world setting.
RIIMPO318F – This course will also give you the ability to conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations. You will learn how to plan and prepare for skid steer loader operations, load and move materials, select and use attachments for a skid steer loader, and much more.

Combined Excavator and Skid Steer
Available Locations
The course is delivered over 3 days in a classroom and practical setting at our Dandenong site. Weekend courses are also available.
Career Options
This course provides numerous pathways forward, including rigging, crane operator, electrical spotting, and plant operations.
Obtaining Your License
Upon successful completion of these courses, students will be provided with a wallet card and statement of attainment for Excavator and Skid Steer Operations.
Excavator and Skid Steer Ticket Pre-Requisites
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants will be required to undertake pre-course reading and an activity book to ensure an understanding of the learning content that will be reviewed in the class contact time. These materials will be supplied to the students upon enrolment and payment of the course.
- COVE Training does not have CRICOS accreditation and is unable to train students on an ‘International Student’ VISA.

FAQs
What tonnage Excavators will this course allow me to operate?
On successful completion of this course, you will be allowed to operate any size Excavator as there is currently no size limit as long as the machine is classified as an Excavator.
What size excavators do you have?
We currently have 2 lever-operated excavators. One is 3 Tonne and the second is 3.5 Tonne.
Does this course allow me to operate a Tracked or Wheeled-based Skid Steer?
Yes, on the successful completion of this course you will qualified to operate a Tracked or Wheeled Base Skid Steer (Bobcat).
